  1. He is the main character of the comic Transmetropolitan, by Warren Ellis and Darick Robertson. It ran from 1997 to 2002, but the trade paperbacks should still be available. He’s like a science fiction version of Hunter S. Thompson (although, to be fair, Hunter S. Thompson was kind of a science fiction version of Hunter S. Thompson, so that’s a little recursive).

  2. Transmet is by far one of my favorite books, and Spider Jerusalem one of the greatest characters I’ve ever had the pleasure to enjoy and simultaneously be completely horrified by. Warren Ellis has a beautiful, insane mind. I have a recurring fangirl dream where I am in a British pub have a beer with Mr. Ellis, picking his brain about Spider.

  3. Newbie…. I love transmet. Love Spider and his many faced cat. He tends to over analyse his bowel (and others) but as with above fans, Ellis has a great mind. I’m drawn to this genre because it echoes real life or rather amplifies some of the worse aspects of humankind. We could definitely learn from it.
